You know by now that teaching engaging math lessons while also staying sane and not letting it take up your entire life is no easy task.  And there's a whole new level of added difficulty when you're following a curriculum that teaches math very differently from how you were taught.

Despite these challenges, you’re still getting a lot of things right:

  • You’re planning for how students best acquire number sense. You’re putting in the effort to make math class engaging and effective. You’re using tools shown to be effective in mastering the math standards.
  • Each time you step in front of your math class, you see the work pay off with ‘ahhh I get it now,’ or the shy smiles that come from that one student who was affirmed for their right answer.
  • There's nothing better in those moments as a teacher, but if you are being honest, you put in a LOT of work before, during and after math class to ensure students understand their math standards.  It's a LOT to keep up with!

Shoot, when it really comes down to it, it's a lot to make sure YOU understand the math standards well enough to scaffold, extend, and guide students through concepts you were never really shown how to teach yourself.

No wonder you find yourself….

Frustrated with the lack of time to plan, and the lack of quality professional development that actually helps you get better. How the heck are you supposed to actually teach these lessons anyway?

Tired of more to dos than there are minutes in a day. There is too much to cover in every lesson and just not enough time to make sure every child on every end of the continuum with all of the achievement gaps are going to get there.

Stuck teaching math the same way, day in and day out with really no change in results. What worked before isn’t really working and you're sick of feeling incompetent.

Worried that your colleagues or students will figure out your secret, that you don’t believe you are a ‘math person.'  At times you may even question whether you should be teaching math altogether.

Learn to love math again and even more, learn to love TEACHING math.

What if you could plan meaningful lessons that work for ALL students using the curriculum you ALREADY have?

Isn’t that a novel idea?

You just need to learn to use the tools and curriculum more effectively.

During the Math Expressions User Summit, you’ll learn how to run a Math Expressions math lesson with the joy and confidence you've been imagining all along.

Join us for the Math Expressions User Summit and head into the 2023 school year with a solid plan and a renewed love for teaching and learning math.

The Math Expressions User Summit is packed with practical workshops that will help you...

Provide meaningful math lessons for your students.

Build mathematicians that know how to reason, defend, and prove their thinking.

Break the ‘I’m not a math person’ cycle for both you and for your students.

Make the day to day math lesson engaging and hands on.

Simplify the lesson planning process- know what’s important and what’s not.

Engage your language learners while also improving their language proficiency.

Clearly understand the methods, models and language that supports math learning.

Identify the key materials and best organizational strategies.

Know that you are NOT alone as you hear from other grade level teachers with the same struggles and with ideas on how to move forward.

Understand more deeply an inquiry lesson design and how to orchestrate conversation.

Engage students in the 5 Core Structures of Math Expressions daily and with confidence.

This is exactly what you’ll experience when you attend the workshops during our Math Expressions User Summit.

From your couch, campsite, beach, pool, or classroom, learn proven classroom strategies from experienced educators that have been where you are, have 'figured it out,' and now want to share that with you.

Have Questions?  We've Got Answers

Our definition of an “Math Expressions User”is that you are currently teaching, coaching, or leading the math work using this specific curriculum. The Math Expressions User Summit is an independent event, not managed by the publisher of the resource.  Although any elementary math teacher could benefit from our sessions (because let’s face it, good instruction is good instruction), our sessions are specifically geared for the Math Expressions User. We are using Math Expressions pedagogy, lesson examples, core structures, and classroom experiences in our presentations.

This summit was created to empower and equip elementary math teachers using this curriculum to love teaching and learning math again.

The main portion of the summit runs from August 4-August 5th. You’ll also be able to join our private website community as soon as you register, so you can join in on the fun right away!

While most of the presentations for the summit are pre-recorded, there are some live elements, and the pre-recorded presentations are only available for 24 hours with your free ticket. So we encourage you to attend live if you can! We would love for you to set aside some time during the summit weekend to attend the live sessions, watch the pre-recorded presentations, and participate with others who are making plans to improve their math instruction using Math Expressions just like you!

However, if you’re not able to attend all of the sessions live, go ahead and grab your free ticket, and you’ll have the opportunity to upgrade to the VIP All-Access Pass for extended access and exclusive bonus resources.

Your free ticket includes 24 hour access to each of the presentations. If you need more time, you can always upgrade your ticket to the VIP All-Access Pass after registering, which will give you extended access to the presentations along with exclusive live sessions during the summit week, and premium bonuses from our speakers.

To avoid tech glitches, give you the best possible experience, and keep things easy for the speakers, the presentations are pre-recorded and will be released at a scheduled time during the summit. However, the speakers will be hanging out in our private community with dedicated threads where you can connect with them and ask your questions! There will also be opportunities to join us for bonus live events throughout the event.

No. When you register, you’ll be added to the Math Expressions Users email list so we can send you updates for the event and links to each day’s presentations. After the summit is over, you’ll continue to hear from us, but you can unsubscribe at any time.

Each of the speakers may have free resources available that you can access by providing an email address, but the speakers will not get your email address unless you choose to give it to them specifically. That way, you only hear from the people you really love and don't have to worry about getting added to 12+ email lists that you're not interested in.  You can learn more in our Privacy Policy.

Yes. All presentations have closed captioning. Please reach out if there’s anything we can do to ensure you’re able to enjoy this event.

If you still have questions, we encourage you to go ahead and sign up. Your questions will likely be answered during the event or in the Summit community, which you’ll be able to join right away after grabbing your free ticket.

However, if you need to ask us a question before registering, feel free to send us an email at support@empowerconsulting.org
